 studies, studies, studies.

They're surprisingly fun.
This one's not great however.

this is underlined depending on if i remember to underline it or not

This is my entry for e.v.e online competition. Sadly I decided to spend some time tweaking it after I sent my entry in, and now wish I hadn't since this looks much better. but hey, the project was awesome, really got me thinking and pushing what I know about design and form and function. I wanted to steer clear of 3D too, try and push my quick sketching, and perspective skills. Also as the comp involved schematics it really made me think about what and where things went on the ship, which is something I got lazy on. Was pretty challenging making the design new, but fitting with what e.v.e already had. I picked minmatar since they have the most interesting ships out of the bunch, a bit crappy could be another  way of describing them, so I thought it would be fun to try and keep their style, but maybe make something a little cooler. This also happens to be  the first ever image i've spent more than a day on, and am actually happy to now call finished (albeit if its now "useless" since its not the one I entered).

anywayz nuff chat its almost 4a.m.

EDIT: realised I had a few hours left, so I deleted the old, and whacked in 2.0 instead. Thankgod for PT. link to my e.v.e entry

something a lil graphic

Thought I'd chuck in a music brief I worked on earlier this year ( I love my Graphic Design ) before I hit the hay. This little promo release was for a mate of mine who goes by the name Monster!Monster! He produces insane chiptune dubstep electro music, he was in a sort of "re-branding" phase when he asked me, so it was pretty awesome to do everything from the ground up ( logo, packaging and graphics ). He wanted something different to jewel case an sleeve, so I designed him this. There were 50 made, each signed, numbered, and came with a metallic poster.

if you're interested - http://soundcloud.com/monstermonster - is his soundcloud, czech it.

(p.s. ill try sort out a hi-res version as the image quality is a tad crappy) edit: second thoughts ,can't be assed.

garish colours and custom brushes.

Tried a couple of exercises today. Recently got back into using Kuler, a handy little community driven colour selection program from the Adobe castle. Since the colour palettes are restricted to just five hues, its nice to just pick one at random and see what you can do with those five colours. Today I got slap in the face magenta and some cool blues ( the green is just to give the pink more pop).

Also tried to stick to solid colouring, and using some 8bit brushes an such that i'd been crafting earlier. Didn't think of anything before painting, just let the story come out of the brushes. Ended up with some sort of rock, organic tech snake tower land...at feeding time. 1Hr.

G'night

off to a tremendous start...

So it's been a month, and no posts... But we'll breeze over that, and focus on the fact i've actually been working hard since uni has kicked up. It's weird that the backlash of working hard is having a real positive effect, more often than not I would be bored of drawing and want to go out, but i'm actually wanting to draw and experiment more. I shan't complain, it feels pretty good.

Been makin' brushes all evening. Here's a Rainart inspired piece, with a lil zombie homage for my friend Faye.

Enjoy
